One of the best parts of photographing a family of five on Nantucket is getting to document the way the everyday playful interactions they love so much.
This beautiful morning session at Brant Point Lighthouse was the perfect example of this. With three energetic little kids, there was plenty of laughter, exploring, and sandy toes from beginning to end.
As a portrait photographer, it is always my goal to provide you with memories that you can keep all year long. I love to imagine my clients hanging up these photos on their walls at home. Or changing their phone wallpaper so they are often transported back to these sunny days.

We began on the beach where everyone had space to simply be together, and get used to the camera. The kiddos walked hand in hand with their parents along the shoreline, searched for shells, tossed rocks into the water, and ran from one adventure to the next.
Their outfits fit the setting beautifully. Mom wore a breezy white dress with navy embroidered details, while Dad wore a classic white linen shirt and light shorts. The children coordinated in soft shades of navy, white, and blue plaid, creating a coastal look that fit the aesthetic of the day perfectly.

It’s no secret that I love to photograph at Brant Point. (Here’s another recent session there!) One of my favorite things about this location is the variety it offers in a single session. Not only is it one of the most iconic spots on the island, but it also means we can capture classic portraits, and playful moments on the beach.
You get the posed images that are perfect for gifting to grandparents, or hanging up in your hallways… but you also get the playful, adventurous and fun photos that really document all those little expressions your kids make!

These three kiddos are in such a fun season of life. Watching each one interact differently with their parents and siblings made this session so much fun to photograph. The older boys taking care of their baby. Running and playing. It truly makes me so happy as a Nantucket photographer. I love capturing all these little moments for your family.
I take this approach with all my family sessions. Yes, we pose a bit. But mostly, we’re exploring the beach, climbing around the lighthouse, and discovering shells. I want “getting family photos done” to be a fun experience for your kids.
Plus, these little adventures give them something to do, which always leads to more genuine smiles and connection.

Family vacations go by so quickly, but prioritizing a photo session has a way of bringing you right back to those slow mornings by the water. If you’re planning a trip to Nantucket, take this as your sign to book a portrait session.
We can go to Brant Point Lighthouse! Or any of the other amazing locations on the island. (Yes, I have a location guide! Click here to see!)
