As Summer approaches again, I was reminded of this sunset proposal at Brant Point Lighthouse last June. It was the perfect example of why so many couples choose Nantucket to celebrate meaningful milestones together.
The roses begin to bloom, the island takes on a little quieter feeling before peak summer arrives, and the golden evening light seems to stretch on forever.
Michael and Emily’s story with the island already ran deep. Emily attended college nearby and had always wanted to visit the island, while Michael grew up spending summers here with his family and grandparents. Nantucket was filled with memories for him, making it the perfect place to begin the next chapter of their story.
When it came time to choose a special location, Brant Point Lighthouse felt like an easy decision. With its iconic white tower, waterfront views, and easy walk into town afterward, it is one of the most beloved locations on the island.
As the sun began to dip lower in the sky, Michael got down on one knee on the sandy beach beside the lighthouse. Emily’s reaction was filled with joy, excitement, and a few happy tears. Those are always the moments worth preserving. The genuine emotions that unfold naturally. These are the photos that couples treasure, because they are part of your story.

Emily wore a soft blue and white floral dress paired with a light denim jacket, which was the perfect little nod to starting her bridal era. Michael chose a relaxed light blue button-down and cream pants. The colors complemented the coastal landscape and felt so cohesive across their gallery, with the lighthouse, blooming roses, and soft Nantucket sky.

One thing Michael shared afterward was how nervous he felt about Nantucket weather. If you’ve spent time on the island, you know how quickly conditions can change. A sunny forecast can shift within hours.
A few things couples often appreciate brainstorming with me beforehand:
Knowing there was a plan in place helped Michael relax and focus on the moment with his person, instead of worrying about the forecast. As a Nantucket native, I will always help you navigate this!

The wild roses were in full bloom, sailboats drifted through the harbor, and the sunset wrapped everything in a warm golden glow. Every part of the evening was equally relaxed and happy. You could feel their excitement in the air. They were officially fiancés!
The celebration continued with dinner at Sister Ship, just a short walk into town. It was the perfect ending to an unforgettable Nantucket evening.
For Michael and Emily, Nantucket will always hold a special place in their hearts. It is where family memories, vacation traditions, and now their engagement story all come together. I hope they will come back and visit many times over the year!
