There is something pretty magical about a Nantucket evening, especially when it includes sandy toes, pastel skies, and an entire family together in one place. This family met me at Nobadeer Beach in early September for a family session that was so wonderful to photograph!! 

With extended family joining them, all 13 family members were there, along with their sweet dogs.

That alone made this session extra special! When everyone is together for a Nantucket vacation, having photographs that capture the whole group, (along with all the little moments in between), is something you will treasure for years.

The family looked right at home against the soft, coastal backdrop at Nomadeer Beach.

Their outfits were a beautiful mix of whites, soft blues, and neutral tones. I always help my families figure out what to wear before our session. Choosing elevated outfits for the beach can be tricky, but this extended family knocked it out of the park. 

And the evening light was just beautiful this evening. Everything had that warm, glowy quality that makes Nantucket family photos feel so timeless.

And then there were the airplanes! We couldn’t have planned that better if we tried. 

Their little guy absolutely loves airplanes, and with planes flying overhead throughout the evening, we had plenty of opportunities to capture him looking up and pointing toward the sky. It was one of those details that made the session feel completely personal to their family.

Of course, we took the classic family portraits. But some of my favorite images are the ones where everyone was simply playing and interacting.

There were bubbles with Grandpa, games in the sand, parents lifting their little one into the air, grandparents walking hand in hand with their grandson, and plenty of time for the dogs to join in. Uncles and aunts playing with the baby of the family.

These are the moments you’re already living during vacation anyway, why not head to the beach and capture them all!? As a Nantucket family photographer, the best parts of my Summer are meeting up with so many families. Families who have carved out time to get away together. And want to see each phase remembered for what it was.

So whether we meet up at Nobadeer Beach, or any of the other amazing locations on the island… I always feel so honored and excited to capture your family as you are today.

There was something especially sweet about knowing this was their last night on the island too.

After their session at Nobadeer Beach, the family finished the evening with a beach fire and pizza.

There’s no more perfect way to end a vacation together in my book!
