There is something so special about gathering the people you love most in one beautiful place, and capturing those memories. This Summer session at Washing Pond Beach was a beautiful reminder of why family vacations on Nantucket are so worth documenting.

This extended family came together in June to enjoy time on the island, slow down, and make memories across generations. 

They reached out to me to schedule a photo session all together as a way to always remember this particular Summer all together. 

We decided to meet up at Washing Pond Beach for their evening session. With soft coastal light, rolling dunes, and the sound of the ocean nearby, this location provided the perfect backdrop for a session filled to the brim with connection and love.

This particular location is one of those places that instantly feels peaceful. The sandy paths winding through the dunes, the beach grass swaying in the breeze, and the wide open shoreline create a setting that is both beautiful and relaxed.

For families visiting Nantucket, it is the kind of place where everyone can simply be themselves. And in my opinion as a family photographer… that is what leads to the best photos. 

Children can explore, grandparents can soak in the moment, and parents can focus on enjoying time together rather than worrying about the camera.

The soft blues, navy tones, crisp white shirts, and neutral khakis felt timeless against the beach landscape. They provided the perfect contrast to the green sand on the dunes. 

The little girls wore matching blue dresses with delicate embroidery, while the adults chose classic pieces that photographed beautifully without feeling overly formal on the beach setting.

What made this session so memorable for me as a Nantucket family photographer were the genuine moments that unfolded naturally throughout the evening.

I was especially touched by the photos of the grandparents with their grandkids. Images I know that will be cherished as the kids grow older. 

But I also loved the pictures of cousins cuddled together closely. (Imagine them recreating that photo in ten years!) The baby playing in the sand or being thrown in the air by her dad. These are the moments that often become family favorites years later. Not because they were perfectly posed, but because they were real.
