Miranda and Andrew got engaged at the Great Point Lighthouse during their stay on Nantucket. They wanted to have an engagement session to celebrate this special time before they got married. They had the most beautiful engagement session at the Sankaty Lighthouse, downtown Sconset and finished the evening on the beach. If you would like to see more of their engagement session head on over to their blog to see how beautiful this spring engagement session was. I had such a fun time with them and enjoyed capturing the love that these two have for each other. It only made me more excited to photograph their wedding day. The island has a special place in their hearts. Nantucket was the first place where they took their first “big” trip together as a couple. They had said how incredible it would be if they could get married on Nantucket. But, never dreamed that they could.
Well, that dream came true for this wonderful couple. It was a gray, cold, blustery day that also called for rain. A typical weather forecast in May on Nantucket. But that didn’t stop this couple from getting married in one of their favorite places on the island. Their ceremony took place just to the right of the Brant Point Lighthouse and they were surrounded by their family. Andrew waited by the lighthouse for his stunning bride to walk towards him. When she came around the lighthouse with her Father by her side Andrew was blown away. They both had a smile that radiated happiness. The ceremony was delivered by Reverend Linda Simmons and it was absolutely beautiful. They did handfasting and had special readings done by their family. They exchanged their handwritten vows and there wasn’t a dry eye to be had. It was a joyous moment for all and it was so great to see such a wonderful couple get married.
After the ceremony, we all rushed to the van to warm up before we did portraits. It was quite humorous to see everyone piled up in a minivan with the heat-blasted on high. Got to do what you got to do! Once everyone had warmed up we headed back out to do some family portraits in front of the lighthouse. I loved this time with this family. They were a great group of people and so fun to be around. Then guess what we did afterward! You got it, we ran back to the van to warm up again. Then we did portraits for the Bride and Groom. I always enjoy this time with the couple. Miranda was absolutely stunning! Everything about her dress to her accessories and her bouquet only made this stunning bride even more beautiful. Andrew was so handsome! Loved his accessories. He wore whale cuff-links and had his father’s stopwatch in his pocket. All their details came together so well. Due to it being so cold they pulled each other close which made for intimate portraits. Photographing these two was simply the best. I like that you can’t even tell by the images that they were freezing. We just kept on laughing and thinking of paradise islands.
After we did portraits we all went to the White Elephant. They were going to have a delicious dinner and pop some champagne to celebrate. After we said our goodbyes and I was headed to the car that’s when it started to sprinkle. I am so happy that the rain held off for this sweet couple. It was such a pleasure to have met this wonderful couple. Such an honor to be able to capture their special intimate wedding. I wish them a lifetime of happiness together. Cheers to the happy couple!
