Some family traditions are worth repeating, and this sweet crew has made documenting their time on Nantucket one of them. Having the chance to work with repeat clients is my greatest honor as a Nantucket family photographer. For this session, we decided to meet up at Sconset Beach in the late afternoon for our annual photos!
We began our session photographing around the cottages and flowers, and the finished at the beach. This is one of Nantucket’s most picturesque villages. Between the gray shingled cottages, white picket fences, and blooming flowers every turn kinda feels like you’ve just stepped into a postcard.
Mom wore a classic white top with a patterned skirt, Dad wore a light blue button down and khakis, and the girls looked adorable in coordinating blue, white, and soft lavender dresses. Even their golden retriever joined in! Family photos wouldn’t be complete without their beloved family pet!
One of my favorite moments was simply letting the girls explore together. They ran down quiet paths, laughed at their inside jokes, and wrapped each other in the biggest hugs. Those genuine moments are always the best. Those are the moments I think about these girls looking back on in 10 or 15 years. How much they will love having pictures from these vacations!
We could move and play freely both in the town and at the beach. I always get excited when I see some cloudy days, because they make for such pretty photos like these!

Before heading to the beach, everyone changed into more relaxed outfits that perfectly matched the laid back feel a late afternoon on the beach. Cozy knits, soft neutrals, lightweight shorts, and bare feet in the sand created a completely different look while still feeling beautifully coastal.
A quick outfit change is a wonderful way to add variety to your gallery. In one session, you can capture both timeless portraits and carefree vacation memories.
Their pup came with us, and we made sure to get some pet portraits too!! And also the classic photos of the kiddos snuggled up with their dog.
I know that when they go back home, this is a normal evening for them at home. So it was fun to recreate the play, fun and connection at such a beautiful location.

Getting to spend a third session with this family was something so special. They got to feel so relaxed and at ease in front of the camera. And I think you can tell in the photos. There is something so seamless about knowing your photographer, and trusting them to capture the different seasons of life for your family. I really strive to be a Nantucket photographer who feel excited to come back to, year after year.
This is a wonderful way to preserve this season of life while enjoying everything that makes Nantucket feel like your home away from home.
