Sam has been coming to the island for 26+ years, and so he knew that he wanted to propose to the love of his life. He chose Brant Point Lighthouse because it’s a place they like to visit when on the island. Not only did he want to surprise Samantha with a ring, but he also wanted to surprise her with her family, whom she hadn’t seen in a while. Such thoughtful planning on Sam’s part. Sam had reached out to me in January, and the proposal was not until the 3rd of July. Since both families knew of this big event, they all had to keep it a secret!

Fast forward to the day of the engagement. It was such a gorgeous evening with that lovely golden sunlight. I got into place and waited for the cue from Sam that they were on their way. I saw them approaching, and within minutes, he was down on one knee. Samantha was shocked and in tears. She, of course, said yes! She could not stop smiling and was just so happy. We took pictures as we waited for the next exciting thing she had no idea about. Within just a few moments, she saw her family come around the corner. She ran over to them and squeezed them all. There were so many exciting things to capture, and I loved every bit of it. They then celebrated with some champagne, and we spent the rest of the evening taking pictures until the sunset. I loved photographing this great family and couple. Their love for each other plus their smiles from ear to ear and their great energy were a joy to photograph. I’m so happy I was the one that got to photograph this exciting time for them.
