Chris and Shannon like most couples of 2020 had planned to have a larger wedding with all of their favorite people. But, due to the pandemic, they had to postpone. So, they decided to make the best of it and have an intimate ceremony instead. Of course, when they are able they will have that big party! They chose to have their ceremony on Nantucket because they had grown up spending some summer vacations on the island. They thought that it would be a perfect idea to have a family vacation and have the intimate ceremony be on the beach surrounded by their immediate family.
It was the day of their wedding and what a gorgeous day we had. I met them at their rental on Lover’s Lane. It was a beautiful home that had a lot of natural light and had a great backyard with a pool. It was the perfect spot for a family on vacation and a reception. Once I got there I started photographing Shannon getting ready with her mother. It was a casual time as well as an intimate moment they shared. Shannon looked so gorgeous in her dress. Her details were beautiful, especially her bracelet which was her Grandmother’s. When Shannon was done getting ready she then prepared herself for her first look with her father. She started by walking down the staircase where her father was waiting for her. When they saw each other for the first time there wasn’t a dry eye to be had. It was an emotional time for them. He was in complete awe of his daughter. After they had their moment together we then stepped outside for Shannon and Chris’s first look. Shannon had walked over to her soon-to-be husband and tapped him on the shoulder. He then turned around and they were so happy to see each other for the first time. Once they shared their time together we took some family photos before heading to the beach. The beach was only about five minutes away which was perfect.
Once we got to the beach they popped some champagne and shared a toast together. Having a casual time before the ceremony. I loved that they did this and everything was so relaxed. When it was time to start Shannon’s parents walked her towards Chris and their family. Shannon’s had in her hands her bouquet that was so beautiful picking up all the colors that were in their surroundings. Shannon’s father was the officiant. Which made it all that more special. It was a beautiful ceremony filled with emotion. There were sad moments as well as laughter. One of the best ceremonies I have listened to. If you looked over at me you would have found me tearing up behind my camera. After their ceremony, I spotted a small rainbow. Everyone was amazed about it. It was perfect! We then took some portraits as the sun was setting. The best part of the portraits was their dog Ferries with his flower collar.
They finished the evening at the house with some games, appetizers, drinks, a beautiful dinner, and cake. It was a great way to end the evening all while surrounded by their family. Everything was a beautiful day and celebration. The saying of the day was when life gives you lemons make, lemonade. I had such a great time with this wonderful family and it was an honor to be their photographer. Cheers to the happy couple!
